TripAdvisor Awards Excellence Certificate to Castle Hotel in Italy

TripAdvisor, the world famous travel portal, has recently awarded a Certificate of Excellence to a quiet and little known castle hotel in Italy, in Abruzzo – The Monastery Fortress of Santo Spirito.

Nestled in between the mountains of the Aquilano valley at 720 meters a.s.l. With a breath taking view of the Gran Sasso d’Italia peaking at nearly 3,000 meters,  the Monastery Fortress of Santo Spirito is the perfect place for a romantic getaway far from the noise and chaos of the city, a pleasant and scenic drive from Rome, easily reachable from the motorway A24 connecting Rome to L’Aquila and Teramo.

“We were thrilled to learn we had been selected by TripAdvisor for this prestigious award,” said Gianluca Sordini who manages the Castle Hotel with his Wife Cristina.

“Santo Spirito is a unique place offering informal and discrete hospitality for those seeking open spaces and fresh air, Guests who enjoy escapades, long walks and discovering the nearby villages, or perhaps horseback riding – all this is possible at Santo Spirito. This award was indeed a pleasant unexpected surprise we appreciate very much. We strive to offer the best possible service at very convenient rates making our offer very enticing with a growing number of satisfied Guests who turn to TripAdvisor and leave very positive comments which have lead up to this certificate of excellence award.”

The Monastery of Santo Spirito is the first Cistercian settlement in the valley of L’Aquila built in 1222 by Placido of Roio.

After the founder’s death in 1248, the monastery was taken over by the Cistercian Order and the Convent of Santa Maria in Casanova, near Penne. In 1652 it was included in the list of the small monasteries abolished by Pope Innocent X.

Today, the Monastery Fortress of Santo Spirito is a small castle hotel in Italy offering informal and discrete hospitality for Guests seeking rest and retreat from a busy world in a setting untouched by time.
