Increased media attention towards Iceland has lead to an increase in flight traffic at Keflavik International Airport. This incoming flight traffic is expected to begin over the next few months due to the positive rate of exchange for foreign visitors, and cheap travel.
Over the past few years, an increased demand for tourism in Iceland, commerce and travel has developed. This has been proved by the Lonely Planet guide crowning Iceland as a ‘Top 10 Best Value Travel Destination 2010’.
Iceland’s Keflavik International Airport is the island’s only gateway to the world, and the starting point for holidays in Iceland. This increased demand for tourism in Iceland has resulted in preparation for a charge of foreign travellers. Keflavik is already preparing by keeping on top of its high quality standards.
On top of that, the Airports Council International recently titled Keflavik International Airport as the ‘Best Airport in Europe’ within the 2009 Airport Service Quality passenger survey. Travellers indicated that the Airport’s facilities were excellent, and to a high standard.
