Youngsters from local schools in Hafnarfjordur, Iceland will be ready to welcome passengers aboard the Le Boreal cruise ship this summer, as it is due to dock four times throughout the season.
The Le Boreal cruise ship will be docking in the Port of Hafnarfjordur giving the 264-passengers aboard the opportunity to go on sightseeing tours in the area surrounding Hafnarfjordur. This includes The Golden Circle (Gullfoss, Geysir, Thingvellir), the geothermal area of Krysuvik, the Blue Lagoon, and city sightseeing tours to Reykjavik.
In addition, Mar Sveinbjornsson, CEO of the Port of Hafnarfjordur, explained other preparations that have been made in the Port of Hafnarfjordur for the coming summer months: “We recently had the harbour deepened. The new depth will allow us to accommodate 300 metre long and 8 metre deep cruise ships.”
Furthermore, for the Le Boreal passengers, every year between the 11th and 20th June, the annual Viking Festival takes place. The festival involves Viking enthusiasts from all around the world participating in the various activities and events for all the family to enjoy. The annual ‘Bjartir Dagar’ festivities also takes place between the 2nd and 6th June with numerous concerts and events taking place in downtown Hafnarfjordur.
