Unique self drive tours in Iceland are being offered by Budget car rental with the launch of My Way, a new audio tour guide which uses GPS technology.
My Way is a unique method of travel for tourists in Iceland. The device combines modern technology with traditional storytelling, and works by mapping the geographical locations of the traveller during selected self drive tours, and recognises the position of the traveller’s car at any given time. My Way then plays audio specific to that location, such as facts and figures, history, and geography.
The device works just like any GPS navigation system; the narration on the device starts and stops when its users stop travelling, and automatically starts up when travelling recommences. This feature allows its users to leave the car, go for a walk, eat lunch, or just stop and rest at their own pace.
My Way offers three different preprogramed tours; Golden Circle tour; South Shore tour; and Reykjanes Peninsula tour. The device also fits in any car just like any normal GPS navigation unit.
My Way can be booked through Budget car rental, who has stated that it is one of its best selling travel aids.
