According to Statistics Norway, there has been a high increase in oil and gas investments in Norway, surpassing the forecast NOK 12.6 billion for this year. It is now expected that investments will reach NOK 211.3 billion by the end of 2013, hitting a new record in the oil sector.
The statistics agency also predicted a rise in field development investments and for 2014 expects to see NOK 165.2 billion due to projects like Statoil’s Aasta Hansteen and Gina Krog projects, as well as Det Norske Oljeselskap operated Ivar Aasen field.
Another recent highlight for the Norwegian oil sector is the exploration of untapped resources in the Barents Sea estimated to be worth up to 230 billion Euros.
